American rapper Mac Miller was born in the Point Breeze part of Pittsburgh in 1992. During his time at Taylor Allderdice High School, Miller was determined to focus more on his career in music. He eventually signed with Rostrum Records to release his mixtape “K.I.D.S.,” referencing the 1995 Larry Clark film of the same name. Since the release of “K.I.D.S.,” Miller has experienced quite a bit of mainstream success. His debut album Blue Slide Park went on to peak at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 charts, selling 145,000 copies in its first week alone. Millers fifth mixtape “Best Day Ever” featured the single “Donald Trump,” which became a viral hit online, and has attained over 115 million views.
Miller has released a multitude of albums and mixtapes since his days as the goofy teen rapper from Pittsburgh. Continuing from his ongoing musical advancement that began with the mixtape Macadellic, Miller released his second studio album “Watching Movies with the Sound Off,” which received favorable reception from critics due its psychedelic influence and refined lyricism. In 2014 Miller signed with Warner Bros. Records to release his first major label debut “GO:OD AM,” and toured internationally in support of it. The album dealt with Millers struggles with fame, addiction, and recovery.
His fourth studio album “The Divine Feminine” released in September of this year, and featured appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, and Ariana Grande. In light of the successful release of “The Divine Feminine,” Miller will be going on tour with Soulection feat. Andre Power and CLOCKWORKDJ. He’ll be performing at Emo’s on the 21st.
