Ecstatic Music Festival, now its 7th year, has announced its 2017 lineup. The New York based festival mashes together classically trained musicians with popular music performers for unique live experiences.
Festival events will be held at Kaufman Music Center ranging from January 9th through May 13th. Notable live collaborations include San Fermin & NOW Ensemble, Sleigh Bells & Hrishikesh Hirway, Ambrose Akinmusire & Kool A.D. with Mivos Quartet, Thums Up (Vijay Iyer, Himanshu Suri, Rafiq Bhatia, Kassa Overall) & Arooj Aftab Kronos, Quartet & Face the Music, and Roomful of Teeth & Nick Zammuto (The Books). The Bang on a Can All-Stars will kick off the festival lineup on Jan. 9 with premieres of works by Nico Muhly, Anna Thorvaldsdottir and Felipe Waller. Tickets go on sale Nov. 1 at EcstaticMusicFestival.com.
