“I’m a big fan of carbs and the artist Prince”, the prideful Minneapolis bound artist raps about in single, “Seismic Waves.” Starting in 1989, the dup, Atmosphere, have released eight studio albums and ten extended plays. From hit albums; God Loves Ugly (2002), Southsiders (2014) and Fishing Blues (2016), Atmosphere have gained a large following both locally and nationally throughout the years. Currently, Atmosphere consists of Sean Daley (rapper slug) and Anthony Davis (DJ/Producer Ant.
Working together, Atmosphere has recently released a new video for the hit, “Seismic Wave” from the album Fishing Blues (their most recent album). The video starts off with Slug rapping in a Department of Corrections facility. He is sitting down with no commotion going on in the background. He slowly stands up and opens the ceil gate and walks out. Still rapping, you see him walking and releasing others from their ceils. Once he releases other prisoners, chaos begins to strike. The next scene shows prisoners running away. Then, fights between prisoners and guards break out. Absolute anarchy breaks out, showing some of the prisoners laughing, burning stuff and animal-like behavior. Toward the end of the song, Slug sings “I don’t need another reason, Cause I’m leavin’ with you (with you)”; repeatedly. In the video, it shows an open door with sunlight beaming through the prison. Meanwhile, the camera is slowly zooming in on this door representing an escape.
Coinciding with the release of the “Seismic Waves” music video, Atmosphere announced winter 2016 tour dates. Beginning the tour in Canada at the beginning of November, Atmosphere heads east. Then, moving back toward the Midwest and then up to Canada once again, and so forth. Ultimately ending the tour in February in Colombus, Missouri. Below are tour dates and ticketing links.
