Nouvelle Vague has recently released their cover of “Love Comes in Spurts”, which will be a part of their new album I Could Be Happy due on November 4th through Kwaidan Records / !K7. This song was a cover from Richard Hell and the Voidoids.
The video for the song sounds as if it was recorded as a live performance with a set of voices in the background as a member of the bands sings. With the beats supporting the vocals, the song gives off a danceable vibe. Compared to the original song though, this band has a slower approach. There is also a less emphasis on a drum set and guitars that were set up in the original song, but more focus on the use of instruments such as the bongo drum. The cover could be heard below.
When asked about the choosing of the covers for the album by Cool Hunting, the band’s co-founder Oliver Libaux had said “It’s quite a long process. This recipe, if there is one, is 12 years old. What’s moving us when we pick a song?” As for the process after picking the song, Libaux says “In a way, it has already been decided. If it is not happening in one or two hours once we get inside the studio, forget it. It must be simple. Simplicity gets straight into everyone’s ears and stays. If it is simple, the angle is the right one. It has to be—not easy but—quick.”
With the release of this new album, the band has made plans for a tour in November, in order to support the release of this new album. The dates released, as of now, include the cities of London and Dublin.
With the announcement of the album I Could Be Happy, the band releases the music video for the song “La Pluie Et Le Beau Temps”.
