Gorillaz Share Visual Story “The Book of 2D”

According to SPIN, Those who consider themselves fans of Gorillaz have yet another reason to get excited. Gorillaz has returned with another edition to their recent series of animated story releases with a new release titled “The Book of 2D”.

Back in 2014, David Albarn spoke about the possibility of new album along with a new The Good The Bad & The Queen album.

In 2015, said that he would record a new album Gorillaz album this September to later be released in 2016. Early in 2016, Gorillaz started work on their fifth album. In August, it was announced that beloved artists De La Soul and Snoop Dogg would be featured on the new album.

The newest addition to the groups exciting yet confusing animated story releases which include The Book Of Noodel, The Book Of Russel and The Book Of Murdoc. Gorillaz make use of a combination of visual effects and writings to bring fans into the world of Gorillaz.

Like some of the others, The Book Of 2D was released on twitter through a series of extremely short video clips. It focuses on one of the members of Damon Albarn’s animated band Gorillaz. Each animated section is bookended by title screens that recall Prince Valiant comic strips. Perhaps the most entertaining or for some inappropriate moment of the story is the penis joke that David Albarn’s character makes. Damon Albarn’s character 2D has a run-in with a whale called “Massive Dick,” who dies. Then 2D feasts on “rancid whale blubber,” and there’s a “wet T-shirt contest.”

All of this innovation in promotion and fan engagement. Yet there is still no new album from Gorillaz. I think I speak for fans when I say, “What’s taking so long”.
