Allegaeon Bassist Corey Archuleta To Quit Band

Allegaeon, American death-metal band from Colorado who recently released Proponent for Sentience, and just replaced their lead singer, are going to be losing another valuable piece to their troupe. According to Loudwire, bassist Corey Archuleta has announced that he is leaving the band after 7 years of rocking with the group.

Corey detailed his reasons for leaving Allegaeon on the internet, explaining that he is intending to change his career, hanging up his bass guitar and putting on a suit and tie, Archuleta is looking to enter law school and pursue a career in the legal department. His departure seems to be amicable since the group chose to release a video in which Corey discusses his exodus from the band and offering up his spot to interested applicants, telling them they can audition for the new position in Allegaeon.

Archuleta explains in the video to the audience, and Greg Burgess who is walking along side him, that “It’s too hard to be in a band and go to law school.” During a game of tic-tac-toe that Burgess challenges him to, Archuleta continues “I just want to be Allegaeon’s lawyer,” Archuleta joked with Burgess. “I’m still in the band, you’re just paying me more.”

Archuleta also decided to release a full statement regarding the matter of his departure,

“HI!

After eight years with Allegaeon, my time has come to move on to pursue other interests and dreams. This decision didn’t happen overnight; it has been on my mind for some time. I have learned an immeasurable amount about music, the world, people, and myself, having this experience. It has led me to a sick interest in the law, and hopefully practicing it someday. I am excited for another bass player to take over, and offer something new to the ever-expanding progression of Allegaeon.

One hundred metric tons of thanks to the Allegaeon guys, both present and past, Metal Blade Records, Extreme Management Group, Inc. and Circle Talent Agency.

Most importantly, you, the person that bought a CD, shirt, ticket, gave us a place to sleep, shower…you deserve the biggest of thanks. Being in a band isn’t easy, whether it be financially, physically, or mentally. But the fans kept me, and the band, moving forward.

The Winter Warriors Tour featuring Battlecross, and Necromancing the Stone, will be my last run. As far as a final Colorado date, TBA, maybe.

If you are interested in being the new bass player, please email humanresources.allegaeon@gmail.com. You’ll receive an auto-reply with instructions (Gmail users, make sure to check the “Updates” folder for the auto-reply). I’ll be reviewing the material once you have submitted them.

Thnks fr th Mmrs,
Corey Archuleta”

As it says in this statement, Corey intends on keeping his bassist position through the upcoming “Winter Warriors” tour that the group starts at the end of November. Members of the band revealed in the comments to this statement that they have figured out a solution already to the departure, and will manage to keep things running smoothly until an official new bassist can be named, with Andrew Grevey from Wretched holding the position down once Archuleta leaves.
