More teases coming from Tool members, as fans are getting restless for new material, as Maynard James Keenan continues to drop hints here and there, fellow members are also trying to spread more rumors about new material. According to Alternative Nation, Tool guitarist Adam Jones sat in for a Meet and Greet/Q&A at a recent Tool show and revealed several interesting bits of information regarding Tool’s upcoming work, and the work they have done up until now.
Reddit user D1g1talS0ul posted a recap of the sit-down with Jones, detailing that Jones revealed that the band actually do have more than two albums worth of music, which comes after the false rumors of a double album release, but sadly also revealed that fans will not get the pleasure of hearing any of it. It was stated that only 5 of the tracks they have in the vault meet the Tool standards right now, the band gets in the studio to create 90% of the instrumentals, and once that is done Maynard comes in and writes the lyrics (as he always likes to do).
D1g1talS0ul’s full comment states “I learned a lot of insight about the band from the Q&A with Adam. There was 150 of us in a room with him and it felt very personable. He played for us, talked about he and Justin play off each other to create a 5/7 rhythm. Played a riff that’ll be on the new album. Said they had enough music for two albums but only 5 meet their (tools) standard right now. Adam, Justin and Danny are in the studio 1PM-4PMish I think he said Tuesday-Thursday. Once 90% of the instrumentals are there Maynard comes into write (that’s how Maynard likes to work).”
Danny Carey, Tool’s drummer, is currently suffering staph infection, according to Jones’ Instagram, but still managed to play a rocking set regardless of the pain he was in. “I truly have to respect Mr #DannyCarey who played the entire show with a very serious Staph Infection.” Jones continues “At first on Friday morning he was misdiagnosed with a poisonous spider bite on his upper leg. Then later Friday night the quarter sized wound was cut opened & drained. By Saturday DC was still aching from head to toe & from what I heard the Local Doctor recommended we skip the show. But Dan with headaches & painful joints played anyway…”
The only thing fans can hope for is that the band decides to actually release all the hidden tracks before it’s too late and we run into the same problem that Prince fans had, when finding out about the vault of hidden music that the late artist had kept to himself.
