Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the duo who were responsible for the award winning Best Original Score for The Social Network in 2010, are coming together for another project in movie score creation. According to Pitchfork, the two legendary artists teamed up with rock band Mogwai and Argentine film composer Gustavo Santaolalla in order to create the soundtrack for the upcoming National Geographic documentary Before the Flood, produced and starring Leonardo DiCaprio addressing the concerns of climate change in the world.

The soundtrack is scheduled to be released tomorrow, but today, Reznor and Ross, who are huge advocates for global awareness, sat down on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on the radio to discuss the film and their accompanying score, while also sharing the soundtrack’s title track, written with Santaolalla.

“When this came up, it just felt like, we are fans of facts and science, as well as the planet. Seeing Fischer’s (Director) approach, as well as Leo’s to make a fairly mainstream film that wasn’t taking the doomsday scenario, but offering an overview with a glimmer of hope and a call to action … And then leveraging Leonardo’s fame as something that might get people to watch this” going on to say “we need to proactively do something as a society and as individuals.”

The interview was not only about their work on this film, they also discussed what the two are up to now in their career. Atticus revealed that the film’s original title was Are We Fucked Yet? providing a somewhat comedic commentary to the serious topic. Reznor also went on to discuss his various projects, saying “We’ve been working on Nine Inch Nails stuff.” He later added with regard to all of his work, “Things are going good, and when we have something that we think is excellent we will unleash it upon the world” hinting towards the possibility of the band releasing new music in 2016.
