Lush, originating as an English rock band and moving toward “Brit Pop” genre, has canceled the remaining of their tour. Notorious as the as one of the first “shoegazing” groups, Lush excited fans all over with their first tour in over 20 years. Coming together in 2015, Phil King (bassist), Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi (singers/guitarists) and John Welch (drummer); Lush had made a comeback introducing their EP, Blind Spot.
Blind Spot introduced four songs, “Out of Control”, “Lost Boy”, “Burnham Beeches” and “Rosebud”. Considering this was an emotional EP for the band since the death of Chris Acland (former drummer), Berenyi sang “Lost Boy” from coast-to-coast in their North American tour wholeheartedly. Although not confirmed only inferred about the dedication of the song to Acland, she sings, “I should have never let you out of my sight.” And “Desperate to be beside you, I didn’t know I’d never see you again.”
Marking the 21st commemoration of Acland’s suicide yesterday, Phil King quit the band. The band released an official statement,
“We are very sad to announce the departure of Phil King from the band. As a result, we will no longer be able to appear at the Iceland Airwaves and Rolling Stone Weekender festivals – massive apologies to everyone who was looking forward to seeing us play there. We are in the process of acquiring another bass player and look forward to our final show at Manchester Academy on November 25th.”
