According to Stereogum, LA based hip-hop duo Anderson .Paak and producer Knxwledge, known together as NxWorries, have just released their second studio album of the year Yes Lawd! a week early, which is a delightful follow up to the duo’s EP Link up & Suede released last year.
The combination of the two artists, with .Paak crooning over Knxwledge’s beats and production truly brings a different side to the hip-hop sphere. While both have immense solo talent, the two together reach a whole new realm for their genre. Each track brings us back to the old while still remaining modern and new, pushing the envelope as to what can be different from the standard popular “hip-hop” that is being played on the radio today.
The album was originally supposed to be released next week, but the duo could not wait any longer to show their fans what they have been working on inside the beat-laboratory. “What More Can I Say” features gorgeous horns reminiscent of old jazz taverns, overlapped with .Paak’s lyrics beautifully singing over the instruments. Other tracks bring in large choir groups, and different era’s of musical style to bring together a collection of tracks that look to be a true game changer.
With this new album released on Apple Music, and soon to be released on other platforms, it looks like this LP will be a fan favorite that has the potential to produce a phenomenal live show. Let’s hope with two albums now released, NxWorries will hit the road and bring soulful hip-hop back into the clubs, bringing a new era of music to 2017.
