Franz Ferdinand, Death Cab For Cutie, Jim James Contribute to Anti-Trump 30 Days, 30 Songs Series

According to Brooklyn Vegan, several artist have come together in a “super-album” to try and rally against the Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump. 30 Days, 30 Songs is a collection of tracks created by Dave Eggers and features songs that were “written and recorded by Artists for a Trump-Free America.”

The series began its releases on Monday, Oct 10th with “Million Dollar Loan” by Death Cab For Cutie, and so far features Aimee Mann with “Can’t You Tell?”, Bhi Bhiman’s “With Love From Russia”. and Jim James’ “Same Old Lie”, all of which clearly are referring to Trump and how his actions have morphed into lyrics for all these songs.

A statement on the website of this series reads “Donald Trump would subject the country to the same hateful cycle of drama and madness that we have been assaulted with for the last year. He will continue to demonize minorities and objectify women. He will throw the economy into chaos and gut environmental regulations. He will devastate our standing in the world,” it continues “We hope these songs provide both motivation and soundtrack to doing the right thing these last few weeks before this most pivotal election, Consider this the music by which you will register to vote and cast your ballot for Hillary Clinton, the only candidate who can prevent the apocalypse that would be Donald Trump as president.”

Most recently, alternative rock group Franz Ferdinand released new track entitled “Demagogue” which feature lyrics that are clearly a shot at Donald Trump, with lyrics being updated just this passed week after the recent debate. “His tiny vulguar fingers on the nuclear bomb” is a small sample of just one of the pointed out in this danceable postpunk groover, and is the first song released since Nick McCarthy had quit the band.

As more days go by, we can expect more anti-Trump tracks to be released by many unhappy rock groups. It seems that they feel it is their duty to speak up against what they believe is to be an unacceptable choice for the next president. No word yet on who the next artist on the series will be, we have only until tomorrow to wait.
