The Man on the Moon is back with a new psychedelic song. Kid Cudi, the rapper, trendsetter, actor, and producer, came out with a music video for his song, “Frequency,” which Cudi himself directed. The video is intriguing at its surface, mirroring Cudi’s enigmatic personality. In what appears to be a jungle, a dreary and shirtless Cudi sloths around a dimly lit area, all while sporting sunglasses and smoking. Then cue mysterious women, body paint, and black lights. All the while, Cudi’s song hums along, steady and hypnotic.
The song comes off of Cudi’s upcoming album, Passion, Pain, and Demon Slayin’. The album, which was originally scheduled for release this month, has been delayed. Recently, Cudi checked himself into rehab for depression. After Cudi’s last album was Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven, released last December, he canceled his winter tour in order to regroup.
Passion, Pain, and Demon Slayin’ will feature André 3000, Travis Scott, Pharrell, and Willow Smith.
