LISTEN: Sims Releases New Song “Icarus”

Fall, the transitional phase between summer and winter came to be known as the season of “harvest”. For many, fall is a favorite season that brings a mother load of festivities. Including, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, Halloween, scary movies and Thanksgiving. While the crisp weather induces apple trees to bloom and be harvested, Sims is harvesting a new solo album to present to fans.

On the brink of debuting his newest solo album on November 4th, More Than Ever, Sims has decided to give fans a sneak peak into what he has been working on. First, he released the single “OneHundred” this past September, along with a music video. Then, more recently, he shared his newest single, “Icarcus”. Icarcus is a Greek mythology about a son who received a pair of wings from his father by adhering feathers to a wooden frame with wax. His father, Daedalus, cautioned him that flying too near the sun would cause the wax on the wings to melt. However, elated with the ability to fly Icarcus did not listen to his father. Flying too close to the sun, his feathers came loose and he descended into his death.

Sims was quoted saying, ““The chorus came to me while I was driving in my car listening to this Paper Tiger beat. It was one of those perfect Fall days, where the air is crisp and the sun is bright. I was thinking about how awesome life is, just driving around feeling excited. It was one of those moments where you are like the living embodiment of love. I wanted to make a distillation of that feeling, cuz I feel like shit a lot of the time. It’s about rising above all of the pettiness, and being daring enough to take a chance; to risk being safe to do something amazing. I called it ‘Icarus’ as a counterpoint to the cautionary tale. For everyone warning you to play safe, to not fly too high, I offer: We are all going to die. Might as well live boldly.”

Living life boldly is exactly what Sims is going to do. Fans have become ecstatic with his first two single releases, and are anticipating a prodigious album. Coinciding his newest album, Sims has also set out a lengthy tour starting in November. Starting in the Midwest, he manages to hit the East coast all the way to the West coast, finishing in the South. Tour dates and ticketing links are mentioned below.
