Radiohead Guitarist Ed O’Brien To Release Solo Material

Radiohead is a well-known band and one that has been relevant in the music scene for quite sometime. Now, the guitarist of the band has announced that he will release solo album once Radiohead finishes their world tour. Guitarist, Ed O’Brien, plans to follow on the likes of his Radiohead bandmates, releasing solo and part-time project outside of the famed band, who are together still releasing new material.

O’Brien stated the onset and beginnings of the upcoming work in a recent interview. Noting the births of his children in the mid 2000s, O’Brien stated that inspiration for his solo work started here. Moving to Brazil with his wife and children nearly a decade ago for a period of time, the guitarist lived as he calls “a simple life” and that the beauty and culture of the country helped him begin writing his own material. In Brazil, O’Brien asserts, music and song is of great importance and the resonance in song is shown through the prevalence of parades and festivals in Brazil. O’Brien saw this as further inspiration behind his work, a sort of calling to write and perform. An inspiration to create captured O’Brien. Because of this, O’Brien looks forward to releasing his solo album and declares that playing the Glastonbury festival again would be a true dream for him. Taken back by the music and performance culture of his Brazilian residence, the Scottish festival that the guitarist has experienced before is seen as the perfect homecoming to have his art displayed. A”spiritual home” to O’Brien, Glastonbury marks a desire for the Radiohead guitarist moving forward, and his solo work is awaited by all.
