At New York’s Global Citizen Fest last weekend, legendary singer-songwriter Yusuf/Cat Stevens showed his connection chops in appearing with none other than Pearl Jam’s very own Eddie Vedder on stage. But apparently he’s not the only rock frontman Stevens has in his live-show arsenal.
Last night, in his first concert in 40 years in Nashville, Stevens appeared at the historic Ryman Auditorium as part of his “A Cat’s Attic” Tour alongside the ex-White Stripes frontman and Nashville hometown hero Jack White.
Touring in celebration of his 50 year career, Stevens delivered a huge, career-spanning setlist, playing a career-spanning setlist, playing 34 songs throughout the duration of the two set concert and its encore. Toward the conclusion of a first set, attending fans were able to enjoy renditions of “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” “Trouble,” “Katmandu” and others. Then, White emerged to lend an extra guitar and vocals to the classic “Where Do The Children Play.” Stevens then ended the set with “On The Road To Find Out.”
The second set was graced with just as many hits, including “Sad Lisa,” “Father and Son,” “Moon Shadow” and “Peace Train.” Then an encore began with “Wild World” and continued with “Boots and Sand” before Bonnie “Prince” Billy came out to assist Stevens on “Welcome Home” and “All Kinds Of Roses.” The show concluded with a take on “Morning Has Broken.”
