The heavy metal icons Metallica just released a video to their new song “Moth Into Flame,” a track from the upcoming album Hardwired…To Self Destruct. Tom Kirk was the director of the new music video, who also was involved in the making of several popular music videos for fellow industry mates Muse. The song was first released this morning on The Howard Stern Show, and the video was released shortly afterwards.
The video gets under your skin as it opens with a close up of creepy crawlies roaming a television set while the a clip of the band plays on the screen. Then it cuts to their location, a dark and intimate room with the only light coming from several light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Check out the video yourself below.
The upcoming album is set to release on Nov. 18, their first album in eight years.
“It’s DONE! We are … looking forward to the next phase of unleashing it to the world, waking the monster that is Metallica,” they said in an official statement on their website, officially confirming their completion.
They have even released special behind the scenes footage so fans can follow their favorite thrashers in the making of Hardwired…To Self Destruct. You can also watch pro-shot footage of their single, “Hardwired,” which was the first song released from the album.
Catch Metallica at the upcoming Bridge School Benefit Concert, where they will be headlining the two day festival in late October.
