Randy Blythe will be filling in for Mike IX Willaims on EYEHATEGOD’s Fall 2016 tour. Williams, who has been with EYEHATEGOD since 1988 as the band’s singer and frontman, has experienced substantial health problems as of late, rendering him unable to go with the band on tour.
In an announcement, Willaims wrote, “my health situation right now dictates that I am not able to take the stage and perform to the best of my abilities every single night.”
In his place, Randy Blythe from Lamb of God will join EYEHATEGOD on their tour. During that time, Williams will seek out the medical care that he needs. Blythe is a friend of the band and a self-proclaimed massive fan of their work. The two singers became friends while EYEHATEGOD was on tour in the early 90’s. They would frequently pass through Virginia, where Blythe lived at the time.
This is the second time in this year that Williams has needed a someone to fill in for him. In August, Phil Anselmo substituted as the band’s frontman for two shows, while Williams was recovering. And last year, the band had to cancel some of their September 2015 shows, due to Williams suffering from chronic fatigue and exhaustion.
Williams doesn’t want the band to cancel any more shows on his behalf:
“Once again, rather than cancel an amazing tour, we have chosen for EYEHATEGOD to continue on and give one-thousand-percent.”
