Ex-Unwound Members Form New Band Nocturnal Habits

Justin Trosper and Sara Lund, as former members of Olympia post-hardcore band Unwound, have helped shape the face of the underground rock world as we knew it. Their albums hit fans hard and kept on coming, but in 2014 Trosper decided that it was time to pursue his own endeavors and went on to perform solo under the name Survival Knife. It was’t long before Trosper got tired of performing alone and decided to join Lund again to form a new band called Nocturnal Habits.

Adding to the group with Trosper and Lund, the band will also include Sherry Fraser, Dale Crover of Melvins, and Scott Seckington of Two Ton Boa. The band will be releasing their first album, aptly named New Skin For Old Children, via Isaac Brock’s Glacial Pace, representing  a convergence of Pacific Northwest indie rock royalty. In this new band, Trosper has been able to shift his instrumentation, dynamic and style into something altogether surprising

When the lead single off the upcoming album premiered today, Trosper was there to share some of the background to the track “”Good Grief” was the first song idea that made it to the record except for “Wall Of Early Morning Light,” which was written who knows how long ago. I think it’s one of my best songs and a good intro to what is to come, hopefully. People are right to think that this record is a natural follow-up to the last Unwound record (Leaves Turn Inside You). … It’s an inside-of-myself record”

Unwound fans will be glad to hear that the two former bad members still stay true to themselves in this new group and bring the fire when it comes to the new hard hitting, and aggressive tracks. Once the new album is released, fans can expect a tour announcement to go along with it, so be on the lookout.
