Minneapolis based rapper Sims has announced a series of tour dates. The rapper is most famous for being a part of the acclaimed Minneapolis hip-hop collective Doomtree, of which he is a founding member. The tour is in promotion of Sims’ upcoming record More Than Ever, which was announced last week for a November 2016 release. The first released track off the album, “OneHundred”, can be listened to below:
The track is a celebratory “fuck off” to those who told Sims to conform to their narrow view of success. After suffering a series of personal tragedies regarding his family and friends, Sims turned his creative talents towards creating celebratory music, because in his own words, “the only acceptable answer to big loss is big joy.” Sims has a lot of charisma to his flow; it has raspy aggressiveness, yet its bounciness suggests playfulness. The upbeat, relentless instrumentation provided by producer Lazerbeak perfectly combine with Sims’ fast flow.
