Atlanta, the home of the hip-hop and blues group called The Dungeon Family, hosted a reunion for the act this past week in Atlanta’s ONE Musicfest. However, The Dungeon Family almost had their show stolen by an appearance made during their set. None other than the famous and legendary group Outkast, featuring Andre 3000 and Big Boi, came out to enhance the energy of the crowd and surprise everyone with their impromptu performance.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi started with the Outkast staple “So Fresh and So Clean.” Then each of the two took turns pairing with Goodie Mob of the Dungeon Family to entertain the crowd, doing “Black Ice” and “Dirty South.” In fact and as of now, the performance and cameo have had fantastic reviews by the witnesses of the event. Yet, the electricity of the performance has to be taken in with the fact that Outkast has been somewhat a dissesembled unit the past decade. Divorcing in the mid 2000s, Big Boi and Andre 3000 have only gotten back together for a 2014 reunion tour since the split. The band, debuting in the mid 90s, has primarily spent 10 years on and 10 years off in its nearly two decade existence. Because of this, the appearance by the reunited Outkast at the Dungeon Family reunion concert makes the event all the more unique, gaining the praise it deserves.
