A band comprising of members of numerous other bands, Mustard Gas & Roses, has a long expected full-length album on the horizon. Becoming, the title of the album, is set to release soon as the band releases a brand new single and second one from the album. “Let It Roll” is the name of the new number and, distinctly, it features no vocals. “Let It Roll” is entirely instrumental. This is an odd move in today’s music scene, but one that looks to maybe pay off for Mustard Gas & Roses as the song’s instrumentation holds the weight of the message of the song and sends the listener on a journey through the band’s smooth melodies to electric riffs to its dark undertones.
The introduction of the song starts with a meditative tone. It does not keep this essence for the entire song though. Soon enough, an assertive and forceful tone takes the whole of the track, letting out soaring snarls and sounds. The first single was released a couple weeks prior, but the release of “Let It Roll” has sparked more anticipation for Mustard Gas & Roses’s upcoming album, setting to debut October 14th.
The band members, from past groups such as Isis, Chelsea Wolf’s band, and Ides of the Gemini, have put out “Let It Roll” with an almost suspenseful vibe that foreshadows its new album but is also resolute in the instrumental piece. Beginning with a melodic two minutes on anticipation, the track settles into a hard-driven piece of screeching metal and classic riffs spaced out to compliment the fast-paced drumming. Then, after riff after riff, the song fades into an ominous and empty guitar picked outro that is close to the intro. In sum, a sense of nervousness is evoked by the recent single and only adds to the hype of the awaited album.
