It’s a sad day in the fan realm of Dillinger Escape Plan, as frontman Greg Puciato put an end to all hopes of their reconcile. In recent interview with Metal Hammer Magazine, the vocalist clarified the bands recent decision to go on an “extended hiatus.”
“‘Extended hiatus’ would lead people to believe that we think we’re gonna come back,” he said. “We’re breaking up. We’re not going on an extended hiatus.”
Despite their ultimate seperation, Puciato made it a point to reiterate their love for making music and performing. While it may seem difficult to understand, he compared it to being an artist or a director. The artist doesn’t paint until their arms fall off, similar to how a director doesn’t stop making movies until they’re out of hard drive space. Sometimes one has to make the executive decision to end one chapter of their life for the chance to write another. Puciato didn’t want their music career to drag on like a shameless sequel that only exists for an easy paycheck.
“I don’t wanna see ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 7’, you know? And I feel like once we started to wrap our brains around that, we started to feel really confident about it. It feels correct. That’s all I can say about it.”
Catch Dillinger Escape Plan for the last time on tour this fall as they perform their most recent material from the upcoming album Dissosiation, set for an October release.
