Trash Talk, Antwon, Black Noise @ Bottom Lounge 10/26

It seems pretty rare that hip hop and punk acts tour together, and this is one of those rare instances. Trash Talk has been around the block (more like world) since 2005, finding their place as a dedicated tour-based band that can be relied on for great live shows. They have made a name for themselves not only by making great music, but also by using their music to discuss social and political issues.

Something interesting about them is that they became the first non hip-hop act to get signed to Odd Future Records. This shows their ability to cross genre barriers and work with different kinds of music. It also shows the changing nature of music, where it is more acceptable to reach out and not have to strictly stick to whatever kind of music you started making when you first began.

Antwon is relatively new to the rap game, but he has a style and finesse that beats some that have been in the game for years. He started his music career in hardcore bands that more closely resemble Trash Talk’s style, but moved into his solo hip hop work as time progressed. He has a great voice to listen to and his lyrics are really fun and will make you laugh if you listen hard enough.
