Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Mogwai and Gustao SantaOlalla Create New Music for Before the Flood

Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Gustavo Santaolalla and Mogwai have teamed up together to create the music for the feature documentary Before the Flood. This anticipated film, is a call to action from longtime environmental advocate Leonardo DiCaprio and actor/filmmaker/Oscar-winning documentary producer Fisher Steven from movies like The Cove and Racing Extinction. This documentary will be making its world premiere today at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Reznor and Ross worked together as music supervisors, the first for both, with Santaolalla and Mogwai to compose an array of music that was cohesive with the vision for the film. The result of this collaboration is the store for Before the Flood along with an album that will be available in October of this year.

Trent Reznor is best known as a singer/songwriter/producer that is the founder of the industrial rock group Nine Inch Nails. He has worked alongside musician and composer Atticus Ross with projects for Nine Inch Nails along with receiving an Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Social Network back in 2010. Gustavo Santaolalla is an Argentine musician and film composer/producer best known for winning two Academy Awards for Best Original Score for Brokeback Mountain and Babel. Mogwai is a Scottish post rock band that was formed in Glasgow back in 1995. The group consists of Stuart Braithwaite, Barry Burns, Dominic Aitchison, and Martin Bulloch. Together this group creates a unique collaboration that captures the emotion and feeling of DeCaprio’s journey to understanding climate change, how far gone we are, and what we can do to sole the problem.

Before the Flood will be in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles beginning October 21st and will air globally in 171 countries and 45 languages on the National Geographic Channel starting October 30th.
