Donald Glover has become a rising star over the past decade, thanks to his diverse talents in the entertainment industry. He saw his career take off 11 years ago when Tina Fey hired him to write for her comedy series 30 Rock. Glover later contributed to fellow NBC series Community, where he played the role of Troy Barnes. He moved into the music sphere, adopted the stage name Childish Gambino and released several mixtapes before getting signed to Glassnote Records in 2011. Gambino has since released his debut studio album Camp and follow-up Because the Internet, which was nominated for 3 Grammys in 2015.

While Glover is returning to the small screen to write, produce, and star in FX’s “Atlanta,” he has no plans to put his music career on hiatus and will be releasing Pharos in the near future. Gambino joined Jimmy Fallon recently to discuss the forthcoming album along with his personal endeavors. Check out the clip below.

The multi-talented Gambino is crafting a somewhat unconventional release for the LP. At the end of his interview with Fallon, Glover invites his fans to the deserts of Joshua Tree, CA to watch him debut the forthcoming album live. He made statement about the decision.

I just wanted to do something different. I have all these songs, and I was like, ‘I want people to feel like it felt to be in them.’ I was like, ‘oh, I should just invite everybody camping… we’ll be building this big place to perform it, and we’ll build all this city stuff. It’s like a whole town.

The concert campout will take place September 2-4. Tickets were available through the PHAROS Earth application but sold out within minutes. When opened, the app now leads to a countdown to Gambino’s Labor Day performances.
