Lunice @ Bardot 9/8

Lunice is coming to spin at Bardot in Wynwood on Thursday, September 8th. He started as a break dancer, but now he’s making the breakbeats himself. If you want to hear some great instrumental hip hop production this show should be for you.

Lunice is a DJ and Producer from Montreal who has been making beats since the early 2000’s. His love for hip hop culture led him to dip his hand into many aspects of it:Graffiti, B-boying, and finally DJing. He pays homage to the classics while also creating his own aesthetic forged from the influence of trap and electronic music. His music has banging bass, 808’s and hi hats taken from trap, but also synths and other little tricks taken from dance music that push his music into a realm all it’s own. He has worked with many people in the game including Azelia Banks and Hudson Mohawke, who he released a joint EP called “TNGHT” with. Take a listen below.

As you can see from the video he still loves to B-boy, he just does it to his own music now. If you’re looking for someone who is innovating with hip hop instrumentals look no further than Lunice. This should be a great show for anyone who likes hip hop beats.

My two favorite music genres are definitely hip hop and electronic/dance, but I'm really open to anything that piques my interest. I'm currently in New York for school. Electronic album reviewer for MXDWN. Although I write about music for the website, my media interests stretch into many areas including movies and video games.
