In anticipation of the September 23 release of their fourth album, melodic death metal group Allegaeon released a new video for their cover of Rush’s 1982 song “Subdivisions.” Performed with incredible technical proficiency, the Colorado-based metal-heads do justice to the prog-masters’ original version. New vocalist Riley McShane even does an admirable job of mimicking Geddy Lee’s unmistakable falsetto wail. Check out the live play-through of this epic cover song below:
The band preempted the August announcement of Proponent for Sentience with an incredible new song titled “Gray Matter Mechanics – Appassionata Ex Machinea.” The album follows 2010’s Fragments of Form and Function, 2012’s Formshifter and 2014’s Elements of the Infinite. The band’s latest effort will be produced by Dave Otero, best known for his work with Cattle Decapitation. Lyrically, the album follows an arc that blends the futurism of science fiction with the “reality of the present.”
