There’s no band like the Swingin’ Utters to close out the Riot Fest weekend. Not a lot of bands can still pull off the straightforward punk sound that the Utters have been owning since the 1980s. They present one of the most impressive discographies, spanning nearly forty years and countless releases. Not only that, but the combination of their band name and Off With Their Heads makes for an extremely interesting lineup for the Cobra Lounge.
And at about the same time, across town at the Double Door, Motion City Soundtrack will be gracing the stage to close out a great festival weekend for those more interested in pop punk rather than just plain punk. These guys know the Midwest feel, straight out of Minnesota themselves, and have made an impact in the pop punk scene for roughly twenty years. Opening for them are a band that headlined the night before, Black Foxxes. They always impress with their alternative take on rock music. The last band on the ticket, Lifted Bells, is a promising band straight out of our beloved city of Chicago.
These after shows are not ones you’re going to want to miss. After the last band plays their final notes each night of Riot Fest, you’re going to wish it wasn’t over. And if you head straight to an after show, it’s possible to make the concert high last another two hours or so.
