Sleigh Bells are suing Demi Lovato for allegedly sampling two of their tracks without permission. The two Sleigh Bells songs in question are “Infinity Guitars” and “Riot Rhythm” which they claim Lovato sampled on “Stars”. Lovato’s bonus track “Stars” came out last year on her album Confident.

The duo, comprised of Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller, is suing Lovato, UMG Recordings, as well as producers Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub.

The band stated that Lovato’s tune is extremely similar to their two songs. The complained about similarities include “the combination of hand claps and bass drum”, “the bass drum providing a counter rhythm to the hand claps” and “signal decay and other sonic signatures in each of the songs are comprised of and contain virtually identical content”.

Producers are yet to respond to the lawsuit. However, back in November they denied the claims and said that the singer did not take any part in the production of the song.

Besides the lawsuit, Sleigh Bells have been busy this summer releasing new music. In June, the group released “Rule Number One“, their first release since December’s “Champion of Unrestricted Beauty“. “Rule Number One” was quickly followed by “Hyper Dark” in July. In addition to the single, they also announced a tour that kicks off on August 31 in Cleveland. They continue the tour in September and November and finish up on November 19 in Seattle.
