The entire week leading up to the much-anticipated return of Riot Fest is stacked with sneak peaks into the weekend. Monday leads off with the original surf punks, Agent Orange. They have harbored an extremely unique sound that pushes the boundaries of the punk movement since their beginning in 1979.
Grown from the roots of Orange County, their early sound is deeply engrained with the culture of 1970’s California – complete with skateboards, sun, and surfing. And the supporting act, Counterpunch, are natives to the Chicago punk scene. These two bands fit well together, especially for a live show. Riot Fest bows to its homegrown roots by making sure the first band to play is a local one.
Cobra Lounge is an intimate and up-close way to see two bands that have the perfect energy to perform so close to their fans. Not to mention, if you attend you will find out who the special guests are – and my guess is that it’s not something you want to miss out on seeing. Tickets range from $15-18 and the show will be 21+.
