It’s difficult to find a modern artist who is a virtuoso in bass, cello, singing, and songwriting. However, Esperanza Spalding is the exception. Having already won four Grammys at the age of 31, it’s safe to say that she’s on the right path. Her voice is wonderfully clear, but also dips to blues and jazz roots and powerfully portrays every form of emotion possible.
Some have described her as a musical prodigy, while she disagrees, we can all come to a consensus that her talent has so far surpassed most of her counterparts. After studying briefly at Berklee College of Music, Esperanza became the youngest teacher there when she was 20.
The heaviness of the bass mixes with her light voice to form a connection that is beauty to the ears. Watching her perform is a joy, honestly an experience that should be shared by everyone. The show at Thalia hall will be $37 and an all ages show. Esperanza is an incredible, vivid, and soulful musician, so you should take the whole family to see her!
