R&B isn’t just a genre, it’s more of a feeling. It’s the funky beat laid down with an always steady bassline. It’s the soulful voices in unison, the bluesy guitar solos. Loose Ends contributed a plethora of talent to the R&B scene, which was primarily an underground movement until they appeared.
With hits like Hangin’ On A String, it’s almost impossible to not get up and start to groove to the music. Jane Eugene’s voice is beautiful and can carry with incredible class and grace for hours. This band has achieved so many things, including being the first R&B band signed to Virgin Records, at least in the UK. Many of their singles have gone to #1 – attesting to the fact that R&B music can definitely be marketed and brought into the mainstream in the future.
Bands like Loose Ends ensure that R&B gets the attention it deserves and that the genre doesn’t always stay a fringe or underground music movement. Not to mention that the atmosphere that the City Winery provides is a perfect match for the music of this band. Indulge in wine and food while listening to great music. Reserved tickets start at $35 and doors are at 6 PM.
