Nice As Fuck, the band comprised of Jenny Lewis, Erika Forster (Au Revoir Simone), and Tennessee Thomas (The Like) has released the video for “Guns” off their debut album.
The “Guns” video looks like the bands “family videos” with its mix of the bands live performances and hangouts . The video has a very retro-feel with the opening credits as well as the hue and quality of the video throughout, but it is really pretty cool and unique compared to what we typically see in music videos today. The video was directed by Luke Rathborne, an artist from Maine who has had a lot of success in the U.K, and who has a close relationship with the band members. The video begins with shots of the band members hanging out, whether it be backstage, taking photos, or just messing around on the street. As the video progresses the band is shown performing on stage and interacting with fans singing along to lyrics. It really seems as if this video is an ode to Nice As Fuck’s fans, because it really seems to highlight the pure joy the members have in their everyday lives traveling and performing.
The group previously released the video for “Doors“, and has also recently performed both songs on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The group came together when they all had similar feelings over the state of peace in the world. “Guns” definitely conveys the the bands feeling on the world and finds them calling for peace, and an end to gun violence if you listen closely. Check out the video for “Guns” below and also Nice As Fuck’s debut self-titled album now.
