Leonard Cohen, acclaimed composer of “Hallelujah,” is releasing a new album, at the age of 82. Sony Music, Cohen’s label for five decades, calls You Want It Darker a collection of “haunting new songs,” with the “lucky few” who have heard the album deeming it “a masterpiece” and “classic Cohen.” The album You Want It Darker will be available in stores this Fall.
Described as uncompromising and urgent from those close to him, You Want It Darker is the latest chapter in Leonard’s contribution to contemporary music. The album features nine new songs and is the follow-up to 2014’s Popular Problems. This is his 14th studio album and is produced by his son, Adam Cohen. Part of the title track appeared earlier this year on “Peaky Blinders.” Watch the clip below.
