This Thursday (8/11), Red Bull brings the 2016 Thre3Style Championships to Philadelphia. The event will showcase 6 of the country’s top DJ’s as they go head-to-head to compete for the championship. The winner will then perform among the top international DJ’s in Chile this December as part of the World Championship.
The Red Bull Thre3Style began nine years ago in Western Canada, but finally went global in 2010. Now, the event is the world’s largest DJ competition. This year’s event in Philly will feature a panel of legendary DJs, including Philly’s own DJ Jazzy Jeff. Also judging this year’s competition will be longtime judge Skratch Bastid and the 2015 champion DJ Byte. Hosting this year’s competition at Union Transfer will be Philly rapper (and DJ Jazzy Jeff collaborator) Dayne Jordan.
Over 1000 hopefuls entered this year’s competition, but only six will have the chance to showcase their skills here in Philly. The talented roster includes Boi Jeanius from Chicago, DJ Ease from Las Vegas, Mike 2600 from Minneapolis, DJ Trayze from DC, DJ Jaycee from Atlanta, and DJ Supagi from Seattle. Each DJ has only 15 minutes to prove why they deserve this years title. And they must plead their case using music that showcases originality, skills, and track selections, while make sure to include music from three distinct genres.
Don’t miss this year’s Championships on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 8pm at Union Transfer. General admission is 21+ with a valid ID, and tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance, or $18 at the door.
