Stranger Things, the breakout original Netflix series which has swept the nation with its gripping storyline and homage to the 80’s supernatural classics that captivated a generation, has officially announced the release of its fantastic soundtrack on digital and CD versions.
Lakeshore Records will be releasing Stranger Things – Original Netflix Series Soundtrack in two parts, the first volume will be released digitally only a couple of days from now on August 12th and releasing the CD version on September 16th. Volume Two will be available next week on August 19th digitally, and the CD version will hit shelves on September 23rd. Each volume features original scoring by S U R V I V E members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein.
When asked how the Austin experimental synth duo got together with the show, they stated “The directors were previously fans of S U R V I V E. They used a song from our first LP in a trailer they made to pitch their concept to Netflix. Once the show was picked up, they reached out to see if we were available to score the show,” Dixon said. Stein adds “We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn’t ’80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern. This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach.”
The first season of the series is streaming now on Netflix and is growing in popularity each day, fans can look forward to a second season after such a great initial reception of the show. S U R V I V E will very like score the following seasons as the shows goes on.
