American indie rock band La Sera has announced their first ever American headlining tour. Beginning Friday, October 7th at the Glasshouse in Pomona, California, the tour will span over 23 U.S. cities throughout the fall. This is the band’s second touring run across the United States to support their recent critically acclaimed record Music for Listening to Music To.
On August 26th, Katy Goodman of La Sera and Greta Morgan of Springtime Carnivore’s collaboration album Take It, It’s Yours will be released. The album is comprised of covers and reinterpretations of 70’s and 80’s New Wave and punk songs. The duo is putting their unique spin on classics from Blondie, Billie Idol, The Replacements, Bad Brains, and others. Certain songs, such as “Where Eagles Dare” and “Sex Beat”, are virtually unchanged from their original versions. Others, however, have been transformed from guttural punk anthems to melancholic, low-fi indie ballads. The harmonization of Goodman and Morgan’s voices forces the listener to reconsider how they had previously interpreted the song they are hearing. The instrumentation was also entirely done by the duo, with Goodman on the bass and Morgan on the drums, keys, and guitars.
