When you picture a “revolution”, you most likely picture a full-on war against the government, complete with an excess of split-blood. However, when referring to music, the word takes on a new meaning. Lots of old and new music alike circles around common themes of love, loss, and having a good time. But some music takes it farther – expanding the influence they have over listener’s ears by addressing issues like feminism and the importance of political activism. Naturally, I’m talking about The Shondes.
Along with this entirely inspiring band, Swimsuit Addition and Oceans & Oceans will be sharing the stage. Straight outta Chicago in 2011, Swimsuit Addition is a unique take on a collage of grunge, bubblegum pop, and punk. Because you can’t just have one local band on the ticket, Oceans & Oceans take the last slot on the ticket. On Facebook, the band’s interests are listed as “dissonance and harmony” – which I think sums up the band better than any other words could. Every song is mesmerizing and calming at the same time, the kinds of songs you want to blast while driving home late at night.
This show will be one to remember, especially because of the intimate and extraordinary vibe at the Hideout. Tickets are only $10, so get one before it sells out! The show is 21+ and doors open at 8:30 PM.
