Ozzy Osbourne, acclaimed rock musician and vocalist for legendary metal act Black Sabbath, has acknowledged that for a long time, he has been a sex addict, but he has been getting therapy for the problem.
Earlier this year in May, Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne’s wife, had claimed that the two’s 33-year marriage was becoming too strained after her husband’s affair with celebrity hair colorist Michelle Pugh. Although Pugh had told People magazine that her relationship with Ozzy was “very real” and an “old-fashioned romance,” the rock star seems to take a different stance on the issue. Ozzy Osbourne clarifies that his affair was driven by sex addiction, which he is now in therapy for.
“He is sorry if Ms. Pugh took their sexual relationship out of context… He would like to apologize to the other women he has been having sexual relationships with,” said Ozzy’s rep. “Out of the bad comes good. Since his relationship with Ms. Pugh was exposed, Ozzy has gone into intense therapy… Ozzy is mortified at what his behavior has done to his family. He thanks God that his incredible wife Sharon is at his side to support him.”
Throughout this entire ordeal, Sharon seems to be torn both emotionally and mentally. On her talk show The Talk, she said that she was proud of her husband for admitting his faults, but that it was “embarrassing” to talk about.
Sharon further explained that thus far he has been an outpatient for sex addiction for three months, and after his current (and notably final) Black Sabbath tour is over, he will be an inpatient for three months.
At the moment, Sharon is still managing Ozzy’s career, and Black Sabbath will next play Jones Beach on Long Island 8/17.
Update: Pugh is apparently suing Ozzy and Sharon’s daughter Kelly for defamation because Kelly accused her of elder abuse in a since-deleted tweet that says “Anyone looking for cheap chunky LOW-lights a blow out and a blowjob call [Pugh’s phone number],” before adding, “My father is almost 70 ever heard of elder abuse?”
