Pitchfork reports, Conor Oberst, American song-writer who is known for his work in bands Bright Eyes, Commander Venus, plus several other projects, has finally chosen to release his own new solo album. Ruminations will be Obert’s newest solo album that he will be releasing on October 14th via Nonesuch and will feature a 10-song collection that was written and performed by just Oberst. The entire album was recorded in a 48 hours span last winter at the ARC studios in Omaga, NE, which is Connor Oberst’s hometown, giving the album a truly homie feel.
Oberst shared a statement about his new album in a press release, stating “I wasn’t expecting to write a record. I honestly wasn’t expecting to do much of anything. Winter in Omaha can have a paralyzing effect on a person but in this case it worked in my favor. I was just staying up late every night playing piano and watching the snow pile up outside the window.” He explained “Next thing I knew I had burned through all the firewood in the garage and had more than enough songs for a record. I recorded them quick to get them down but then it just felt right to leave them alone.”
Conor Oberst is about to be heading on a small tour around the US, and it is safe to assume that he will be sharing plenty of the work off the upcoming album which will be on shelves before he sets out on the road, be on the lookout for debut tracks, they will be quite special.
