WATCH: J.G. Thirwell Performs Lou Reed’s “Men of Good Fortune” Along With Sonic Youth, Roxy Music, Chavez Members

This past weekend J.G Thirwell performed at the all day celebration of Lou Reed in New York City. He performed a rendition of Reed’s “Men of Good Fortune”. Thirwell posted a video of the performance as well as a description on his facebook page. The day of music was meant as a celebration of the life and works of Lou Reed. ANOHNI, Mark Kozelek, Laurie Anderson, Bill Lasswell, John Zorn, and Garland Jeffreys were among many other artists in attendance. The day included Tai Chi and film screenings in addition to the music.

The celebration took place at Lincoln center and was curated by Reed’s widow Laurie Anderson and producing partner Hal Willner. Thirwell was accompanied on stage by Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Sal Maida (Roxy Music), Kenny Margolis and Matt Sweeney (Chavez).
