American Sludge Metal band, the Melvins, have made a rather interesting appearance on TV recently. The band was featured on Cartoon Network’s hit show, Uncle Grandpa, appearing as animated versions of themselves.
The plot of the episode is pretty straightforward: Lizzy is in a slight panic as her band quit on her right on the heels of the school talent show. In an effort to solve this problem, she asks for help from Uncle Grandpa. Luckily, Uncle Grandpa has the perfect solution and quickly conjures up Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover of the Melvins. Lizzy is ecstatic at their arrival, and the band agrees to help her with the talent show.
Though this is a really cool cameo for a band, it certainly isn’t the first time a music group has been featured in a cartoon or kids’ show. Various bands, such as the White Stripes and the Rolling Stones, have been featured on the Simpsons and the likes of Alice Cooper and Elton John have been featured with The Muppets.
Nonetheless, it’s really great to see a band like The Melvins being featured on television. Uncle Grandpa’s unique qualities also make this appearance even more apt for the band.
