American singer-songwriter Emma Ruth Rundle has just released a new song entitled “Marked For Death.”
The song comes from her forthcoming album which bears the same name as the newly released track. The album is expected to drop this fall on September 30th, 2016 via Sargent House.
This will be Rundle’s second album as a solo artist. Her first album, Some Heavy Ocean was released in 2014 and included beautiful indie folk rock songs.
This time around, Rundle’s press release states, her sound will be a definite step up from her debut record. As is stated in her press release when speaking of the new album, “She shapes vast, evocative landscapes of sound, combining them with lyrics of devastating candor. Self-determination and resiliency, disguised in this case as coming to terms with overwhelming defeat, are key aspects of her personality. Transforming pain into works of great beauty makes her the compelling artist she is.”
Marked For Death contains eight new tracks, and was produced by Sonny DiPerri. Though the album does not come out until later this year, it is already available for pre-order here.
In anticipation of this album, the title track has already been released as a single. It is currently available to purchase and stream on various platforms.
“Marked for Death” sits at just over three and a half minutes long and contains a vividly emotional tone. The influences of Mazzy Star and other indie-folk rock artists such as Fleet Foxes is definitely not lost on this track. Rundle’s voice is wispy and works very well with the almost mystical instrumentation.
