Earlier this week, My Chemical Romance fans woke up to exciting news. The band posted a rather vague video on their social media accounts, simply showing a flag waving in the wind with a stripped down instrumentation version of their song “Welcome to the Black Parade.” Fans across the world were in a frenzy and speculated that My Chemical Romance would be reuniting. To their dismay, however, the band quickly denied this rumor.
What the band really had up their sleeves was an anniversary re-issue of their acclaimed album, Welcome to the Black Parade. As Rolling Stone states, this will be the band’s 10th Anniversary re-issue and will formatted as a 2 CD/ 3 LP set. The set will include a reissue of Welcome to the Black Parade as well as Living With Ghosts, which contains eleven unreleased songs and outtakes.
The reissue will be released this fall on September 23rd, 2016 via Warner Bros. Records. It is already available for digital and physical pre-order here.
Though fans were itching for a reunion, this is nonetheless really exciting news. Welcome to the Black Parade stands as the band’s seminal record and its title track is one of the most memorable songs of their career as well as of the decade in general.
My Chemical Romance was formed in 2001 in New Jersey. They were one of the top artists in the emo rock scene and continue to be loved despite their break up in 2013.
