clipping. Releases Video For “Baby Don’t Sleep” And Announces New Album Splendor & Misery For September 2016 Release

Reported by Pitchfork, LA based experimental Hip-Hop trio, clipping., composed of rapper Daveed Diggs, with producers William Huston and Jonathan Snipes, who released their EP Wriggle back in June, have announced earlier today that they will be releasing a brand new studio album entitled Splendor & Misery via Sub Pop/Deathbomb Arc. The LP is set to hit shelves on September 9th and will be available on CD/LP/DL/CASS worldwide.

Produced by the band and mixed by Steve Kaplan in LA, the album will be featuring plenty of strong hits that will highlight the album, such as “Baby Don’t Sleep”, “A Better Place” and “Air Em Out”, all of which come together on an Afrofurturist, dystopian concept album that follows the story of a sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship, and the on-board computer that falls in love with him. Although the album’s story line seems a little out there, it fits perfectly with the group’s overall theme, William and Jonathan’s tracks draw an imaginary sonic map of the weird tale they are trying to tell.

In order to help promote and excite people about the upcoming new album, the trio have released a small taste of what’s to come by publishing the official video for “Baby Don’t Sleep”. The video is clipping.’s collaboration with multi-disciplinary artist Cristopher Cichocki, featuring electrifying imagery that exemplifies the group’s commanding noise rap. With scenes of the industrial belly of NYC and LA, the work by Cichocki is evident in his detail with visual experiments using interference static, oscilloscopic wavelengths, and flicker-frame animation.

The new album is a testament to the hard work and tireless effort that the trio put into their music, and with their tour about to come to an end, it is safe to assume that another one is on the way shortly.
