If you’re looking for something with a little more kick this October 12th, head over to the Black Bear Bar in Brooklyn where you’ll be able to catch the veteran death metal band Malevolent Creation.
Let’s face it: They just don’t make metal like they used to anymore. Well, that is exactly why Malevolent Creation has been at it for twenty-five years. The band is a long-time member in the old school “New York Death Metal” scene along with other big names such as Suffocation, Immolation, Demolition Hammer, and Cannibal Corpse. Their 1991 album, The Ten Commandments, is regarded as one of the most influential death metal records of all time, and a key player in giving life (or death, if you’d prefer) to more extreme sub-genres of death metal. Check out the song, Premature Burial; that was on the record.
Not only is Malevolent Creation performing on their home turf (a metal bar out in Brooklyn) but they’ll also be performing with Incantation, another influential band that came out of the New York Death Metal scene. There’s not much to say about Incantation besides that they are a model of what a death metal band should be. After releasing an extensive list of records since 1989 and undergoing countless line-up changes, the band is still most popularly known for their debut release, Onward to Golgotha. Check out the song, Golgotha; that appeared on that record.
If you want to catch this night of old school New York Death Metal and celebrate twenty-five years with Malevolent Creation at the Black Bear Bar on October 12th, tickets are on sale now for $25. I wouldn’t wait too long to pick up your tickets, die hard metalheads are bound to jump on this opportunity, particularly in a smaller venue like this one.Event: Malevolent Creation w/ Incantation @ Black Bear Bar
