Bomb Detonates Outside German Music Festival Leaving 1 Dead And 12 Injured

Tragedy has once again struck the music scene Sunday when a suicide bomber detonated a bomb near the front entrance at the Ansbach Open Music Festival in Ansbach, Germany. The perpetrator left 15 bystanders injured and ended his own life, resulting in the only person killed from the explosion. Authorities reported that the man set off the explosion from a rucksack after he was denied entry to the festival for not presenting a ticket.

Authorities claim they aren’t sure of the motive behind the attacks. In statements from Bavarian police and prosecutor representatives, they stated his motive was still unclear. However, the Bavarian interior minister, Joachim Herrmann, disagrees with police, saying his “personal view was that the attack was likely the work of an ‘Islamist’ suicide bomber.”

In fact, a video was found on the perpetrators cell phone in which he declared “an act of revenge against the Germans because they’re getting in the way of Islam.” Later, a Guardian report was filed saying that “the Isis-affiliated Amaq news agency has claimed the Ansbach attack for the terror group.” As evidence unfolds it is starting to become clear the motive behind the horrific attack was likely terrorism.

In a press conference Monday, Ansbach’s mayor Carda Seidel said that 15 people affected by the explosion do not have life-threatening injuries and are expected to fully recover.

The terrorist group has been recently responsible for several terrorist attacks, and there is no saying the group is above targeting innocent people at music gatherings. The terrorist militants were also known to be responsible for and attack in 2015 at a Paris music hall during an Eagles of Death concert where upwards of 80 innocent concert-goers were murdered.
