Spirit Club, an offshoot of popular West coast stoner surf rock band Wavves, has just released a new song “Room to Run.” The band consists of Nathan Williams of Wavves’ fame and his brother Joel Williams from Sweet Valley, as well as Andrew Caddick of Jeans Wilder. Spirit Club released their eponymous debut record on label Ghost Ramp last year, but they have been relatively silent until now.
Their last release was the track “Fast Ice”, and because it wasn’t on their debut LP, there was some speculation that it would be part of their sophomore record. This new track seems to confirm the existence of a new album. The Soundcloud description seems to imply that the upcoming record will be named Slouch and released on October 4th. However, Caddick seems to be cagey about officially confirming its release.
Caddick has also told Interview Magazine that “For me, the first album was a way to deal with a lot of personal darkness I was going through at the time, and how it seemed like it was running my life.” The new track, with its pretty harmonies and catchy upbeat hooks, seems to point to a lighter direction. “This song was written at a place where I was finally moving on and getting to a better place,” Caddick said of “Room to Run.”
