London based experimental music duo, patten, have just announced a new album. The new album, entitled “Ψ” (the Greek letter, pronounced “psi”), is set to be released this fall on September 16 via Warp Records.
This will be the band’s third studio release, and features a total of twelve songs.
In a press release, the band said of the album’s influences: “There were atmospheres, palettes and textures we were interested in looking at and distilling on Ψ – like the grinding city sounds of Industrial music, the bass weight of UK dance’s Hardcore Continuum, the emotive drive of 80s Goth, the techy weirdness of current pop music like Rihanna, the sonics of modern club like Grime, Footwork and Techno. We wrote in a very open way, allowing these elements to naturally interact in what we were doing.”
Certainly enough, the new single from the album surely features these influences.
The new song named “Sonne” is just a little over four minutes long. It is futuristic, electronic, and hypnotic.
The official music video for “Sonne” has already been released, take a look at it below.
Take a look at the track listing below, and don’t forget to pick up a copy of the new album when it hits shelves on September 16.
