American melodic death metal band, Allegaeon, released new single “Gray Matter Mechanics-Appassionata Ex Machinea” from the bands upcoming new album. There hasn’t been a set release day or album title, but it’s clear from just listening to the single, that the band is hard at work.
It was just last year, after touring with their label mates Act of Defiance, which included Riley McShane as vocal for the first full tour with the band, Allagaeon announced McShane as their new permanent vocalist. Since then, they have been working on new music after returning home to Colorado. If this single is a sample of how the full length album will be, we can’t wait to hear more.
In 2014, the band put out a major record, Elements of the Infinite, which debuted at #25 on the Billboard Hard Music Charts and made our top albums of the year coming in at number 15. You can check out the rest of the list here.
The song starts with, what seems to be, Spanish flamenco inspired guitar and jumps heavily into louder more brash notes. It continues criss-crossing back in forth in such a melodic manner between the two sounds. The lyrics come in not too long after and provide the song with a more metal feel. This song has moments that make you want to dance in a romantic style and then headbang, all while wishing you could play the guitar like that.
